Units&Formulas app for iPhone and iPad

„Units&Formulas“ is a versatile calculator for numbers and units. It allows to evaluate arithmetic expressions of values with any units in simple conversions but also complex combinations and formulas. The application will be therefore mainly in scientific and technical fields but also valuable in education and schooling.

All units can be declared in relation or combination to or with other units, e.g.:
y, year = 365.25 d
d, hour = 24 * 60 * 60 s
c, speed of light = 2.9979e5 km/s
ly, lightyear = c*y

Also material constants or similar quantities can be entered in the same way and used by their name in calculations thereafter, e.g.:
Cu_Leitfähigkeit = 58.1e6 A/(V*m)

Each unit can be preceded by any size prefix (y, yocto = 1e-24 to Y, Yotta = 1e24). These are already in „Units&Formulas“ predefined, e.g.:
km, cm, ps, ml, MWh

Conversions of any unit into any other unit are possible on the fly. This is also possible for any combination (expressions) of units and functions. „Units&Formulas“ evaluates for this always the corresponding physical quantity automatically, e.g.:
3in * 2 cm * 0.3 ft = 139.35 ml (volume)
75 kg * G * 450 m = 91.937 Wh (mass * gravity const.* length = force * length = energy)

More complicated formulas can be entered into „Units&Formulas“ for every day use. Simply entering values with units will then show immediately the corresponding results. Input and output of values can be with any desired unit or combinations of units, e.g.:
Sphere, Ohms Law, Einstein Formula E=mc^2

(Linear) relations between different quantities can also be used to calculate intermediate values by inter- or extrapolation. This is possible by simply and only entering the corresponding ranges, e.g.:
Lightsources
lighting current = 250lm..1500lm
halogen bulb = 20W..75W
LED = 3W..13W
filament bulb = 25W..100W
fluorescent lamp = 5W..20W

With inApp purchase: All units and formulas can be entered and edited in „Units&Formulas“ directly or can be interchanged via email or via the shared documents folder (iTunes).
In this way each user can define and build up his own set of units and formulas according to his special needs or working area.
